Leave it to me.

When I was pregnant with Jeremy we had a boy’s name picked out — Nathan. We also had a girl’s name picked out — Ashley. Neither of them made the cut. Rich told me around my 8th month that he didn’t really like Nathan. Grrr. I could not sleep until we came up with a new name. Jeremy it is.

Two nights ago I told Rich I don’t like the name we’ve picked for a boy. It reminds me too much of someone who is a loser with a big fat “L”. LOOOOSER!! I hate it when this happens and I usually have him to blame. However, we are back to the drawing board for a boy’s name. We threw names at each other until almost midnight that night, laughing at our silly sleep deprived jokes. Still nothing. Well, we have one that I sort of like, but I’d rather LOVE it.

This is where you come in.

I decided this would be a phat contest! You have about half a chance to win. LOL! Well, cuz if it’s a girl then you all lose and her name will be Sara. Ha!! Anyway, this is a pick our baby’s name contest (if it’s a boy). If we like what you choose, your charity of choice will win $50.00 (charity must be for real and MUST accept online donations).

Just so you know — out of all the genius gender guessers in our circle of peeps only 2 have guessed girl. My doctor said “he” at the last ultrasound and then quickly changed that to “the baby”. My mother-in-law has also slipped the “he/his/him” in conversation from time to time (so much for keeping a secret — GRRR). Rich and I are both pretty sure it’s a boy. As I get bigger and bigger and bigger the pregnancy is starting to look and feel a whole bunch like when I was pregnant with Jeremy. I’ll spare you the gory details, but there are sick as heck things going on that happened exactly as they did when I was pregnant with him and I was spared this disgusto phenomenon while I was pregnant with his big sister.

Anyway — I’ll give you a few hints so you have a better chance.

  1. We do not like unisex names like Tracy, Lindsay, Jayden, etc.
  2. We do not like super popular names like Jacob, Joshua, Daniel, Michael, Austin, etc.
  3. We do not like JUSTIN anymore — that was the name I decided against
  4. We will not name him after Rich
  5. We like last names for first names
  6. We like names of cities
  7. We like 2 or more syllables
  8. We like names that can have a nickname — Brianna is Bree; Jeremy is Jay to us

Ok — that’s enough of the hinting. Get on with it you creative crazies and win your charity some dough.

Well, I personally like the name Ryder for a boy. Timmy hated it so it never even made it to the final list..

  2. Evan…

    Okay…contest over…

  3. Holly Says:

    Orlando or Diego

i like Diego – it’s fun and has serious personality.

  4. candidchatter Says:

    Great start! Keep bringing it!

  5. mommato3blessings Says:

    Ok….Well I like

(I love Shannon’s idea of Ryder, but she took it darn it!)

I think all these would be awesome with the middle name that is a given. But I will think of more and be back!

  6. Holly Says:

One day I shall be a mother. A mother of a little girl.

My little girls name shall be Ryan … just an FYI. I don’t care if anyone else also has Ryan. wouldn’t bother me – but it might bother you or others.
    Just a note.

  7. Jen Says:

I LOVE thinking of baby names! Here are some suggestions…

Brady (ok, I’m partical to that one as it is my son’s name!)
    Aiden (ditto)
Happy Naming πŸ™‚ What an exciting time!

  8. candidchatter Says:

We will not donate to a charity that goes against our beliefs. In other words, Planned Parenthood will NOT get any of our money. Neither will PETA (cuz I can’t stand Pam Anderson – their prized spokesperson). Alrighty?

Thought I should throw that in there.

Great suggestions — keep ’em comin’ folks!

  9. Holly Says:

    you’re it!

    Oh, man. Dagger. Dagger.

You thought I was kidding … don’t be a bragger swagger. Just Stagger on out of here Mr. Mick ….

Sorry – I’m on ZERO sleep and negative sense.

  10. I wanted to name our twins Max and Tex but my husband kiboshed it. I dont know why.

  11. Debateur Says:

Totally unrelated but any idea how I can fix my blog so that your openID will work again ? If you don’t know I’ll try and ask someone. Sorry I’m not very technically savy.

Not very good about names but loved your previous post.

  12. candidchatter Says:

D: I think it might have been my own computer glitches. Firefox has booted me a lot these past few days. Might need to clean my cache. I’ll try over the weekend. Sorry.

    Roxx: ROFL!! Wellllll???

PS: Not gonna give my opinion in public yet so keep them coming. Plus, I gotta talk to Rich — he could can every single one of them. It’s very very hard for us to agree on a name. I wanted Brianna to be Ava. He wanted her to be Anastasia. We settled on Brianna. I love her name now, but it was a struggle. Jeremy was not any easier. Hark!!

  13. Lauren Says:

Oh! I love Ava! All my boys could have been an Ava had they come with different parts πŸ™‚

    Well, I love..

    Grayson..Oliver πŸ™‚
    Brayden…Alexander πŸ™‚
    Zane..Lee πŸ™‚

    I also like …

    *Cooper~ Although I know it has already been sugested. It’s a fav~

That could very well be the rest of my kid’s names right there! πŸ™‚

  14. Hi!
    I love Marcus and Lukas!
Ours have to have Saint’s names, so if we have any more they will be Julian and/or Cassian.
When I was pregnant, my friend nicknamed my bump Felix the foetus. When we found out she was a girl it changed to Phoebe the foetus, and Phoebe stuck!

  15. Jenny Says:

Joshua (though that might be really popular right now)
    Anderson (Andy for short)

  16. anne Says:

When I was 8 months pregnant with Madeline, we were going to name her Cecilia, and I vetoed it, even though we had decided on it and told people because I decided I didn’t like the nickname CeCe.

The names of our new babysitter’s boys are interesting:

We like more “traditional” boy names, although if we were to have a boy there would be a knock down drag out argument because I am not naming my son Joseph just because DH’s grandfather’s name was Joseph, when I already have a brother Joseph.

    I like…

    and my new favorite…Joel.

  17. candidchatter Says:

Anne: We told everyone “Justin, if it’s a boy” too. Oh well, they’ll get over it — my family will completely understand — and well it is our baby after all. My brother’s name is Ryan. I LOVE that name, but I won’t use it b/c it’s his name and he should get the rights to it IMO. I agree with you on that (regarding your bro Joseph). GL with all that though. It is pretty hard to fight. Oh and about “Tucker”. I like it too. However, Rich brought to my attention what the mean kids in school would call him. Replace the “T” with an “F”. Yeah. Not so much.

  18. mommato3blessings Says:

πŸ™‚ my cat’s name is tucker πŸ™‚ Now I know what to call him when I am mad at him. Thanks for the idea, lady!

  19. Jason Says:

    All good man child names

  20. Ginger Bliss Says:

I love this…here are a few I came up with, but looks like if we have another boy to stick with the W’s it is narrowed down to Watson or Walker. Of course our girl name is Ellie Ann and when it comes down to it that is really the name I want if we do have a 3rd….even if its a boy…just kidding. Here are some more boy names we have discussed…. hope you like -Ginger
    Jasik (pronounced Jaysick)
That is what I have now…I am sure there will be more

  21. denise Says:

    I like Tucker, Cooper, Hunter,
    Forest….before Gump
    Barack….just kidding

  22. denise Says:

  23. I suggest Connor or Micah.

  24. Ryder is a pretty boring name for a boy. Avoid naming your son after a city (Houston, Dallas, Austin, Macon) or trade name (Hunter, Tyler, Miller). Why limit your son’s self-concept to manual labor? What about Eric?

  25. […] and I think we picked a name if it is a boy. And it IS one of the names mentioned in this post. So somebody is going to win a $50.00 donation to the charity of their choice. Is it you?? […]

  26. […] in a name?Β  I have had some fun with Heidi over this blog of hers.Β  I have whined, cajoled, begged, bribed (with chocolate), hinted strongly and done almost […]

  27. Tiffany Says:

  28. Laura Baker Says:

I cant believe no one has mentioned the name Parker. If I ever have a child and its a boy, he will have the name Parker Lee. But good luck coming up with a name.
