Happy Resurrection Day
…and we will live happily ever after
Heidi, hope you and yours had a fantastic Resurrection Day!!
But I gotta tell ya, I really dislike that picture. Most people think the stone was rolled away so Jesus could get out, but that’s not it at all. It was rolled away to let people in to see that he wasn’t there! He was already long gone! It’s why his burial clothes – the strips of linen – were lying there. Chuck Swindoll said the Greek words described “lying there” to mean as if they were a shell, and the burial cloth was “balled up” as it would have been wrapped around his head. He said think of the movies about the invisible man – while fiction, that’s the image that the Greek words convey about the condition of the burial clothing as they were found by John (“the other disciple”) and Peter.
Will: I did not know that. Thanks!!!! 🙂
